Okay let’s talk about goals. They are the key to success right? Everyone tells you to set them and trust the process! Whether you have big long term goals or daily goals that you want implement, I want to share with you some of my views and strategies that will help you!
I’ve been a goal setter for over 10 years now, but it was only recently that I’ve decided to take a more thought out approach. A big shout out to my mentors who don’t even know they are mentoring me (something about me is that I’m usually listening to people on a deeper level than they think! I do this because I love to learn from those around me.)
Tip Number One: Write Out Your Goals
This may sound like common sense but the power of writing out something is something I really believe in. You’re taking it from your thoughts and already making it a reality! It feels real and exciting and now it’s your job to make it happen. Another great tip if you suck at journaling (like me) get yourself to journal at the end of the week for checking in on how you did with your goals and what you could have improved on. It makes you so much more self aware, even about the simplest of things!
Tip Number Two: Create Strategic, Well Thought Out Goals
This tip right here is my favorite one! It’s so easy to write a long list of goals like I want to lose 10 pounds, I want to run everyday and I want to save 10,000 dollars.
When I set my goals now I also make it a prayer/offering/intention to God. The scripture “Ask and you shall receive” is very powerful to me and I don’t want to ask for just anything. Because believe me I used to.. and God came through and definitely gave me what I asked for but He he has a sense of humor at times. Example: you can be so laser focused on money! Money is my goal money is what I want. And then you get it.. and you’re the loneliest you’ve ever been.
That’s why intention matters so much. You want your goals to come from within. There’s a very special light inside all of us and our goals should be turning that light on a little brighter to help guide us though life as opposed to dimming it out. Ponder the person you want to be, the things and people that light you up and the areas of your life that need more discipline. Then set your goal and ask yourself why you want to accomplish that goal and write that down too! Then make a plan of how you are going to achieve it, and you guess it.. write that down too! I love this method and perspective and I hope it serves you well!
Tip Number Three: Understand and accept imperfection
Wheww… this one right here is what I struggle with most. And to all you perfectionists out there, I feel you! I used to think and wait for the perfect opportunity, time and location to begin anything and it held me back. Chasing goals is a messy bumpy road and you just have to keep on going. Some days you are able to give 100% and some days your tank is empty at 10% I’m here to tell you that all those 10% days add up and when you look back they are all apart of the growth and journey! They usually are the days you take away the best lessons!
Now the ball is in your court! I wish you all the lucky, growth and prosperity!
